Division of Forestry Grant for Hurricane Tree Replacement:

Planting Native Trees in Various County Parks After the devastating effects of Hurricane Charlie, Frances, and Jeanne  in 2004, Sandhill Environmental was awarded the bid to replace $100,000 of native trees through a grant by Division of Forestry to Desoto County. Four County Parks were selected for tree replacement.  This project posed many challenges due to strict guidelines for quality by the Division of Forestry.  Each tree was inspected before, during and after installation.  This contract required a full one year warrantee not only for survival, but trees that fell below grade 1 were required to be replaced.  Starting out with the highest quality trees was the most important aspect of this planting.  Sandhill's planting efforts were met with great results.  Most of these trees are thriving today in Desoto County.
